Adela Peeva’s films "Whose is this song?" and "Divorce Albanian Style" are the only Bulgarian films to date awarded with a Nomination by the European Film Academy (EFA) for best European film

Until 1990:

She worked as director of television channels in former Yugoslavia. Later, as director in the Studio for documentaries "Vreme" she made more than 50 documentaries and in the Boyana film studio – her feature film “The Neighbor”

Some of her films from this period were banned by the Socialist authorities. These were "Mothers" - Silver Rhyton award, and "In the name of sport" - Critics Award of the National Non-Feaature Film Festival "Golden Rhyton" in Plovdiv

After 1991:

She established her own production house "Adela Media", creating so far more than 30 documentaries in collaboration with partners from Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden and Turkey as well as the TV channels ZDF / ARTE, RBB / ARTE, RTBF, WDR, YLE/TV1, TV-Facta, Synevizion Film. She works actively with and is supported by the programs Eurimages, Media Plus Programme, Programme MEDIA, Foundation KulturKontakt Austria, Jan Vrijman Fund and the SOROS Documentary Fund.
